Gorete Almeida
Gorete is an award-winning salsa dancer, international fitness presenter and accomplished instructor with over 20 years of experience. Best known for her salsa, Latin and dance choreography, her background includes competitive cheerleading, ice dancing and hip-hop. To stay current, Gorete travels within Canada and abroad teaching and learning from some of the best dancers and instructors in the world!

Nicki Anderson, NASM
Nicki has spent over 25 years in the fitness industry. Once an obese teen, Nicki’s passion is teaching fitness professionals how to market to and attract de-conditioned populations. Nicki is the 2008 IDEA Personal Trainer of the year, newspaper columnist, magazine columnist, and author of numerous books. Nicki has owned Reality Fitness Personal Training Studio since 1991.

Nick Anthony
Nick has been a professional performance coach since 1998 and is an important member of both the Athletes Performance Institute (API) and Core Performance (CP) in Phoenix, AZ. Nick has had an illustrious coaching career, training some of the world’s top athletes in sport. He is part of the adidas team line-up of global trainers specializing in personal training.

Terri Arends, B. Ph.Ed, M. Sport Management, NASM, IFTA
As a multi-faceted fitness professional, Terri has made an impact on how people throughout the U.S. work out. She is the Group Exercise / Member Services Coordinator at the JCC of Dallas and the founder of Premier Fitness Programming Consulting Company and creator of Knockout, a unique equipment-based boxing class. As a Master Instructor for Spinning, Terri has put fitness to work in the community through an annual cross-training challenge that benefits worthy organizations and causes.

Juliane Arney, ACE, AFAA
Juliane “Julz” is a dance-fitness expert, choreographing DVD programs and creating premier class formats for global club chains. As a student of yoga who loves to share what she learns, Julz teaches in community outreach ventures. She is a master trainer for Indo-Row™ and the Lead Master Instructor and Education Programs Manager for Schwinn® Cycling. With 20 years in the industry, Julz is also an author for print and web, and a marketing/communications consultant for top fitness brands.

Florence Auld
Florence is the owner of The Women’s Club in Chantilly, VA and used to run an 80-club women’s chain. Ownership, however, did not come easy as it required ‘turning around’ a club that no one thought could ever make it. She learned many lessons during her 25-year career and Florence currently operates a successful Day Spa and consulting firm specializing in women’s only clubs.

Rosette Babayan, B.Sc., Can-Fit Pro FIS, PFS
Rosette’s participation in sports and dance at a young age motivated her involvement in the fitness industry to encourage others to stay fit. Rosette’s fitness background includes teaching belly dance, body sculpt, water fitness, dance cardio, stroller classes, pregnant mama, and kids’ fitness classes. Rosette is the founder of Hot Mama Fitness, a pre- and post-natal fitness company located in East Toronto.

Geoff Bagshaw
As one of Canada’s most energetic and inspirational fitness leaders with more than 25 years in the industry, Geoff has starred in highly-rated fitness DVDs and can also be seen on television and in magazines as a featured fitness expert. He is a two-time winner of Can-Fit-Pro’s “Canadian Fitness Presenter of the Year” (2004, 2009) and was named one of Toronto’s top instructors by the “Toronto Star”. Geoff recently joined Equinox Fitness in Miami as the Group Fitness Manager.

Melissa Baumgartner, ACE, ACSM, AFAA, WellCoach
Melissa is co-owner of Midwest Fitness Consulting, LLC; a company specializing in worksite health promotion, and founder of Wellness Speaks; a life coaching practice and training program. Melissa has over 20 years experience in the fitness industry. As an educator Melissa works with several fitness organizations to develop and present on a variety of health and wellness topics. As a motivational speaker to Fortune 500 companies, she is known for dynamic presentation style.

Tanya Beardsley
Tanya is a Zumba Education Specialist and international presenter for Zumba Fitness. She is also the co-host of the Zumba Fitness consumer DVD series and choreographer for the Zumba Instructor Network (ZIN). Tanya has trained thousands of Zumba Instructors worldwide. She has a strong dance background as a former ballroom dance competitor and is now a personal trainer, fusing that balance between dance and fitness.

Leslee Bender, B.A., ACSM, NASM, ACE, AFAA, Polestar Pilates and Physical Mind
Leslee is the original creator of the Bender Ball™ and the Bender Method of Training™ programs. She has been involved in health and wellness for over 25 years and has presented internationally in over 30 countries and has certified thousands of trainers. Leslee has devoted herself to creating a functionally safer approach to pilates training that has been utilized by physical therapists and fitness professionals throughout the world.

Chad Benson, MSc, BSc, BPE, CSCS, BACK, PTS
As the president and owner of ARC Performance Training Systems Ltd, Chad works in a consultant role with B2Ten and the Surrey Eagles, and he has worked with athletes from Pacific Sport, the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Vancouver Ravens and BCAHA. He also has expertise with myofascial release, trigger point therapy, functional movement testing and back to play rehabilitation. Chad is a sport conditioning author and his recent educational endeavours include the ARC 360° DVD Set and P’repair to Perform educational series.

Ajamu Bernard, MBA, CSCS, RKC
Based in Toronto, Ajamu is the founder of the Kettlebell Training Academy, conducting national Kettlebell workshops. Ajamu’s style of training combines Eastern influenced body arts, gymnastics, the study of old-school strength training techniques and a spiritual appreciation of the power of the human body. A former NCAA athlete, Ajamu has been a personal trainer and athlete development coach for over 10 years. Ajamu has also participated at a competitive level in soccer, Muay Thai, swimming and running.

Lawrence Biscontini, MA, ACE, AFAA, AEA, NASM, Cooper CIAR, ACSM, Can-Fit-Pro FIS, PDS
Lawrence won ACE Instructor of the Year Award (2002), IDEA (2004), Can-Fit-Pro (Specialty, 2004), and Best Mind-Body Presenter (ECA, 2005). He is the Wellness Consultant for Golden Door Spas and is a Global Master Trainer for Reebok, AFAA, Resist-A-Ball®, Gliding and Smart Bells and creator of Yo-Chi®. Lawrence is a personal trainer, movement specialist, certified nutritional counselor, and author. He has created aquatic, yoga, and tai chi programming, and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Fitness Magazine.

Jay Blahnik
Jay Blahnik was selected as the IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year (1996) and the Can-Fit-Pro International Presenter of the Year (2005). He is a contract athlete and consultant for Nike, and has starred in over 25 award-winning videos. He is a member of the BOSU Development Team, and the author of Full-Body Flexibility. Jay was selected as one of the top five instructors in the world by Shape Magazine, and one of IDEA’s Icons and Innovators in 2008.

Jeff Boris, BPhEd
A two-time award winning trainer, recognized for his unique contributions to the fitness industry, Jeff draws from 20 years experience as a holistic fitness trainer and nutrition and health research educator. As an author, Jeff teaches a course he co-created for the University of Western Ontario and is a regular guest expert on radio and television.

Lynne Brick
Lynne is the star of several videos, an author, local television and radio personality and the owner of the Brick Bodies chain of clubs in Baltimore. Lynne has taught at conferences around the world and was awarded BodyLife Instructor of the Year (1994) and IDEA Instructor of the Year (1990).

Victor Brick
Victor is the co-founder and co-owner, with his wife, Lynne, of five co-ed health clubs, Brick Bodies and two women-only clubs, under Lynne Brick’s brand. He is the owner of the largest Planet Fitness exclusive area in the US and is opening up 34 Planet Fitness clubs in the next 10 years. An international business consultant, author and motivational speaker, Victor is a former IDEA Business Person of the Year.

Douglas Brooks, MS
Douglas is the consulting exercise physiologist of product research and development for several fitness companies. As the author of six major texts, Coach Brooks shares his conditioning expertise with baseball players, motocross racers and downhill skiers, and is a Twist Sr. Master Coach. Douglas is the head physiologist/strength and conditioning coach for Mammoth Power Sports. In 2007, he was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame and in 2008 was Can-Fit-Pro’s International Presenter of the Year.

Paul Brown
Paul (a.k.a. Mr. Retention) started as a volunteer gym and aerobics instructor in 1980, working his way up to club manager, club owner and now respected consultant. Thirty years on and his passion for the industry remains an inspiration to fitness professionals everywhere. Voted the delegates’ choice for Can-Fit-Pro New Presenter of the Year (2009), Paul is a four-time Australian Aerobics Champion and the creator of the innovative Face2Face Fitness and Retention program.

John Byl, PhD
John is the president of CIRA Ontario and a professor of physical education at Redeemer University College. Dr. Byl has edited and co-authored several game books, including Everybody Move, CIRA Ontario’s popular resource for Daily Vigorous Physical Activity. He is the winner of several professional awards and a regular workshop leader. He has a special interest in promoting fun, active participation for all children.

Mike Chaet, PhD
Mike is a marketing and management consultant to the athletic club industry, highly skilled in seminar communications. He is the founder and president of Club Marketing and Management Services, Inc. consulting firm. Mike has been in the club industry since 1965 when he started with the YMCA on the East Coast. As a consultant, he has been involved in the development or management of over 2500 different clubs worldwide. He physically visits more than 1000 clubs per year.

Tyler Chisholm
Creator of iFlow™ and Master Trainer, Tyler has been working in the fitness industry for 12 years. He is an experienced personal trainer, nutrition coach, international fitness presenter and fitness magazine contributor. He has owned and operated his own Active Weight Loss & Personal Training centre in Calgary, Alberta. His diverse background has provided the foundation for the iFlow™ Fitness System.

Paul Chek, HHP
As an internationally acclaimed speaker and consultant, Paul draws upon over twenty-five years of experience in corrective exercise, high performance conditioning and integrative lifestyle management. Author of six books, over 60 DVDs and numerous correspondence courses and seminars, he has also developed four certification programs for advanced professional development in the health and fitness industry. Joe is the owner and founder of Gainesville Health & Fitness Centers, now in its third decade. His clubs rank globally in the top percentile for sales, management and community service. An accomplished writer, Cirulli contributes to various national and international publications. Sandy Coffman
Sandy is owner and president of Programming for Profit, a consulting and training company specializing in customer service, programming, and retention. Can-Fit-Pro has awarded her its Lifetime Achievement Award (2007). Sandy is on the advisory board for ICAA and is the author of Successful Programs for Fitness and Health Clubs: 101 Profitable Ideas, published by Human Kinetics. Sandy has 30 years of success in our industry and is an internationally acclaimed speaker.

Michele Colwell
Michele is Vice President of Operations for GoodLife Fitness and has been in the fitness industry for 21 years. She holds an Honours degree in Human Kinetics and is a Canadian Certified Personal Trainer. Michele has been honoured with numerous sales and management awards due to her passion to develop strong leaders and her ability to motivate others to achieve peak physical and mental health. Michele was instrumental in creating the largest most profitable personal training business in Canada today.

Casey Conrad
Casey has been in the health and fitness industry for 26 years. She wrote “Selling Fitness: The Complete Guide to Selling Health Club Memberships” and has published over 20 other sales, marketing and management training products. Darin Dieterich
Named as a top presenter in Germany, Canada, and Switzerland, Darin is one of the fitness industry’s brightest innovators. He has appeared in over 40 countries, educating over 10,000 fitness professionals. Darin was honoured as Germany’s “Fitness Educator of the Decade” by top-rated consumer magazine Shape-Up (2004) and has produced over 14 workout videos. Darin is committed to shaping emerging fitness presenters as the fitness education director for Royal Events.

Stephanie Dupuis
Stephanie began her career with GoodLife in 1994 when she became a Customer Service Representative while completing her degree in mathematics. Her passion to help others achieve the life changing benefits of personal training changed her career path forever. Stephanie is the National Director of Personal Training for the GoodLife Fitness Clubs. Stephanie has tremendous experience in all areas of the fitness industry and was awarded the company’s General Manager of the Year award.

Geoff Dyer
Geoffrey is the founder and CEO of Lifestyle Family Fitness in Florida with 48 facilities and more than 180,000 members. Dyer is a native of Melbourne, Australia and has 35 years of experience in the fitness industry. He has served as president of IHRSA (2002-2003), was recognized by Ernst & Young as a Florida winner of the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award (2005), and named the Gulf Coast Business Review “Tampa Bay Area Entrepreneur of the Year” (2007).

Marla Ericksen
Marla is a Can-Fit-Pro Canadian Presenter of the Year (2002 and 2007), a Can-Fit-Pro Advisory Panel member, a contributing author to the new Mind-Body Specialist and Group Fitness Specialist Programs, and author and creator of the DVD, Yoga-inspired Functional Fitness. Marla maintains a clinical practice for exercise therapy, personal training, and private yoga instruction. She manages her career through Empower M.E. Shannon Fable
Shannon is the 2006 ACE Group Fitness Instructor of the year and is an international presenter and Master Trainer for several well known companies including the Nautilus Institute, BOSU and Balletone®. Dave Farrow
With 15 years of experience in training the mind and body, Dave is both entertaining and knowledgeable. He is considered the foremost expert on brain training and speed learning today.

Christine Felstead
Christine’s background as a long-time runner and yoga instructor has led to her current passion - introducing the benefits of yoga to athletic bodies. Known for her understanding of runners’ bodies and grasp on the subtleties of teaching runners, Christine’s style of yoga is designed to complement and improve athletic performance. Her program is now broadly available, locally and internationally through her teacher training program and DVD: Christine Felstead’s Yoga for Runners™: The Essentials.

Clara Fitzgerald
Clara is the Program Director of the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging, a national centre in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario. Clara oversees the applied research initiatives, model exercise program development, knowledge translation of CCAA research findings, national leadership training courses, and community based programs. Clara’s interests are in the area of program models and research that can be integrated into the care of older adults from both a policy and advocacy perspective.

Marta Formoso
Marta is part of the adidas Global Training Team. She has been dancing since the age of six and achieved her group fitness instructors’ certification at age 16. Marta lives in Barcelona and brings her Spanish heritage to her dance style which is energetic and charismatic. Marta has presented all over the world and is considered an industry expert in her field.

James is a master trainer for Schwinn® Indoor Cycling and Nautilus’ Circuit Training Programs. Teri Gentes, Lifestyle Wellness Coach; Gourmet Nutritionist/Chef; Personal Trainer; Yoga/Group Fitness
Teri is the owner of TRG Living Health, Director of Wellness and Nutrition with Family Physio and Wellness Centers and an educator for Dr. Amani Golshani. She writes gourmet natural foods nutrition recipe books and has extensive experience as an international presenter for the health and fitness industry, corporations and the general public with lifestyle wellness, fitness and whole foods nutrition. She inspires others by making healthier habits easy, affordable, and delicious with a truly healthy dietary approach.

Rob Glick, B.Sc (Exercise Science)
Rob has presented in more than 35 countries, bringing efi sports medicine’s GRAVITY Programming to health clubs and is a master trainer for Schwinn and BOSU. He received the Can-Fit-Pro International Presenter of the Year Award (2006) and the ECA Best Male Presenter Award (2005). Rob is also a Star Trainer on Exercise TV, has led many fitness videos is a professional fitness consultant with Global Fitness Solutions.

Jan Goldstein Elman, BSc(PT), MHSc
Jan is a physiotherapist with over 20 years experience in rehabilitation for Parkinson’s disease. She is co- owner of One Step Ahead Mobility, a unique community physiotherapy clinic focusing on rehabilitation and fitness for people with chronic conditions. She has developed and evaluated numerous exercise and educational programs for people with Parkinson’s disease and has presented across North America and internationally. As faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto, she trains and supervises students in the Master’s program.

Victoria Goncharenko, Can-Fit-Pro FIS, BodyHarmonics Pilates Matwork Teacher Certification
Victoria was a professional dancer for 12 years, travelling extensively around the world. She is a Can-Fit-Pro certified fitness instructor, a certified pilates matwork instructor, and a certified Groove Method™ facilitator. She enthusiastically brings her skills, creativity, and love for dance and fitness to each of the classes she teaches in the Toronto area. Victoria also actively contributes her energy and passion to Can-Fit-Pro as a part of the conference operations team.

Paco Gonzalez
Paco is a Keiser M-Series Cardio International Master Trainer. He has been involved in the fitness industry for over 15 years and has successfully created training programs for cycling, indoor cycling, elliptical group training and fitness, as well as instructor training. As an international presenter, Paco has presented Keiser education programs and training in over 30 countries around the world.

Clay Grant
Clay is the Group Fitness Manager for the Equinox fitness club in Great Neck, New York and a master trainer for Body Bar® with over 20 years of experience. Clay was both a silver and bronze medalist at the national finals of the USA National Aerobic Championship. His success lead to opportunities to present workshops and master classes in over 15 countries including Europe, South America, Central America, Asia and the Middle East.

Doug Gray
Doug is the Director of GIFT (Gray Institute for Functional Transformation) and is a Faculty Member and Fellow of Applied Functional Science. He coaches and trains at Hot Rock Training Camp, 3D Personal Conditioning Camp, and Girls of Summer Camp. He has participated in the development, production and delivery of the 3D Matrix Performance Series. He serves as the Director of Free2Play, a dynamic organization utilizing movement to transform the lives of children across the world.

Gary Gray
Gary developed the “Chain Reaction” series of seminars and was a recipient of the John P. Maley Award (2002) for innovation in physical therapy. Referred to as the leading pioneer and authority in rehabilitation and training, Gary is a respected physical therapist, trainer, educator, author, coach and successful inventor. Gary is passionate about translating the complexities of human function into simple and effective techniques. His goal is to enhance the lives of professionals and the lives of those they treat and train.

Ann Green, M.Sc.
Ann is a two-time Olympian and master yoga instructor with a master’s degree in Exercise Science. She is the owner of Bliss Yoga Studio, an active marathon mom and a physical and health education teacher, and is currently nominated for Woman of the Year. Ann is a motivational speaker and an Advisory Board Affiliate for Fit Spirit Canada, the Press Chair for Kids Help Phone Committee, and the Olympic representative for Strength Within.

Steven Groves
Previously the Director of Information Systems at GoodLife Fitness Clubs, Steve left the fitness industry to forge a career in news media. He joined The London Free Press in 2008 as Director of Internet Media, a role that includes the implementation of social media within the newsroom. Steve lives in London, Ontario with his wife, Kim and their two young sons.

Rebecca Gruber, B.Sc. (Physical Therapy), M.Sc. (Rehabilitation Science)
Rebecca is the co-owner of the One Step Ahead Mobility clinic and a physiotherapist with over 20 years experience in Parkinson’s disease-related (PD) rehabilitation. She has developed, run, and evaluated numerous exercise and educational programs for people with PD; and she has presented across North America and internationally. Rebecca now trains and supervises Master’s program students at the University of Toronto.

Melanie Guertin, GROOVE Master Facilitator
Melanie brings her expertise and passion to The GROOVE Method™. Melanie is driven to dance, play and get funky with class participants, facilitating a space for them to discover their own unique grooves through functional movement exploration. Melanie holds a Masters of Education in school health promotion and works as a Health and Physical Education consultant. She is currently involved in the development of resources and training modules for Ontario’s revised Health and Physical Education curriculum.

Maureen Hagan, B.Sc. PT, BA (PE)
Maureen is Director of Education for Can-Fit-Pro and Vice-President of Operations for GoodLife Fitness Clubs. She is a Canadian 3-stripe Adidas athlete, Educator of the Year for BodyLife (1996), Canadian Presenter’s Choice Award winner (1997), IDEA International Director of the Year (1998), BodyWise International Personal Achievement award (2001), and IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year (2006). Maureen is author of GoodLife Fitness - 6 Weeks to a New Body, Newbody Workout for Women and FIT-iology - The Study of Fitness in Action Volumes I, II, and III.

Mike Hibner
Mike is the Director of National Accounts for FreeMotion Fitness, the leaders in Integrated Functional Training Equipment and Programming. He has worked in the fitness industry for over 22 years as a personal trainer, fitness director, gym owner, educator and equipment sales representative. Mike works with the largest gym chains in the United States and Canada to equip their fitness floors and to educate their staff on Lifestyle Enhancement Movements, Whole Body Vibration Training and Incline Training.

Simone Hodgkinson
Simone is an experienced fitness consultant, a qualified yoga teacher (Iyengar style), the director of Physical Yoga, the group fitness director for Spa Lady (Calgary), and a regular on Calgary TV. She has written several educational manuals, produced videos, and written for national newspapers and fitness media. She is also a qualified teacher and provides quality education and development for fitness professionals in Canada and the UK.

Elizabeth Hoffmann
Elizabeth “Lizzy” became a professional ballet / modern dancer in her teens and has danced for companies in the United States and abroad. She earned her degree in Dance / Music / Choreography / Kinesiology from the University of South Florida. She joined the Spinning family in 1996 and became the master instructor for France in 1999. Lizzy now lives in North Carolina, and owns a yoga studio called Urban Bliss, focusing on Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour teacher trainings.

Scott Josephson, M.S., R.D.
Scott is the Director of Operations at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is a national-level conference speaker throughout North America, a recipient of numerous awards, and is frequently published covering a wide range of industry topics. In addition to several certifications, Scott is on the advisory board of the American Fitness Professionals and Associates. His work portfolio includes Geraldo Rivera, Wimbledon champion Chris Evert, and athletes from the New York Giants and New York Mets.

June Kahn, ACE, AFAA, ACSM
June is the 2009 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year, founder of June Kahn’s Bodyworks and Director of Education for BeamFit™. Known for combining classical pilates and fitness, she is the Life Power Pilates coordinator for Lifetime Fitness, managing and implementing the pilates and yoga programs. A nationally recognized Program Developer, June is the co-author of Morning Cardio Workouts and has produced several pilates certificate training programs and appears in numerous mind-body and fitness DVDs.

Jim Karanas
With more than 30 years experience in the fitness industry, Jim is an international fitness education presenter and an ACE CEC provider. He has helped to build Club One Fitness Inc., one of the leading U.S. chains in commercial fitness. As Chief Fitness Officer, he has directed Club One’s fitness philosophy, trainer development and brought exciting new programming to the organization.

Dr. Ken Kinakin, DC
A certified strength and conditioning specialist and personal trainer, Ken was a professional competitive body builder and power lifter for 20 years. He lectures regularly across North America on weight training, rehabilitation, and nutrition. Dr. Kinakin maintains a private practice and has treated Olympic athletes, professional body builders, and fitness champions. He is the founder of the Society of Wellness Integrated Specialists (SWIS), an organization dedicated to the application of fitness and wellness principles.

Barbara Klein
Barbara is the CEO of Flexi-Sports, an international presenter and Nike Athlete. She works as a personal trainer, sports physical therapist. She has written several well-known books on health and fitness and appears and a nutrition and health expert on television and in print. She is a QVC expert with her own sports show.

Petra Kolber
Petra is a fitness spokesperson and international presenter. Accolades include Fitness Crusader (1999), Can-Fit-Pro International Presenter (2000), IDEA Fitness Instructor (2001), and nominations as ECA Best Female Presenter (2003, 2004). Beth Shaw
Beth is the founder and president of YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide. Beth is the author of YogaFit (Human Kinetics 2001) and YogaFit-2nd Edition (Human Kinetics 2009). She has appeared on numerous television programs including The Big Idea, ShowTime’s Penn & Teller, E’Style Network, CNN, NBC and MSNBC. Melissa-Jane Shaw
Based in Toronto, MJ is a professional actor, dancer, choreographer and fitness instructor. She started out as a competitive gymnast and was formally trained in ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, tap, and later on pursued a scholarship at The American Theatre Dance Workshop in NYC. MJ has been working in the fitness industry for 12 years, teaching everything from Ashtanga yoga and spinning, to boot camp and cardio dance.

Jason Sheridan, B.Sc. (Physical and Health Education)
Jason is Vice President of Operations for GoodLife Fitness, after having filled almost every position within a club from customer service to personal training, from sales, to management. He is also a former Can-Fit-Pro PRO Trainer for the Personal Trainer Specialist certification. Dr. Joey Shulman, DC, registered nutritionist

David is an international presenter, Gravity Master Trainer for EFI Sports Medicine, and has been a Reebok Master Trainer for the past 14 years. He owns and operates DBS Fitness Concepts Inc. and has just released a new groundbreaking workout DVD entitled “Custom Fit with David Snively”.

Maria Sollon Scally, MS, CSCS
Maria holds a Master’s degree in Performance Enhancement/Injury Prevention and Kinesiology. She has obtained numerous certifications in various areas of fitness and is a national conference presenter. Maria specializes in pilates, performance coaching, and corrective exercise techniques. She is a Master Trainer for EFI, Resist-a-Ball, and uses her dynamic creativity throughout South Florida.

Bill is an internationally sought after Performance Enhancement Specialist and fitness educator. He is a spokesperson for IDEA and the IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year (2007). Having helped shape the UK Fitness industry over the past 14 years, Michael has been instrumental in training and developing instructors and presenters, culminating in him being awarded Fitness Professionals Fitness Leader of the Year. Robert Steigele

Mark Stone, B.Sc. (Biology), C.H.E.K. Institute Faculty
Mark is a member of the teaching faculty for the C.H.E.K institute and a C.H.E.K practitioner - Level 4. He is co-owner of North Shore Smart Bodies. Mark served as a Nike Training Athlete and instructor for seven years, teaching courses in exercise program design, functional strength training, and athletic performance. He has co-produced two series of educational programs on functional strength training, and the biomechanics of weight training; and he has co-authored several personal training manuals.

Jeremy Strom
Jeremy is the Education Director for FreeMotion Fitness. He has worked in the fitness industry for over 15 years as a coach, personal trainer, and fitness director. He has presented continuing education lectures and practicum worldwide on topics ranging from integrated functional training, whole body vibration training, and incline training to concurrent strength/cardiovascular training and program design. He is a nationally-accredited personal trainer committed to the advancement of functional fitness equipment and training protocols.

Tony Swain, M.Sc. (Exercise Physiology), B.Sc. (Physical Education)
Tony is the Training and Education Manager for Power Plate North America; and the former Director of Fitness at the East Bank Club in Chicago. It was in that role that Tony started up the Power Plate department to great success in both revenue and member participation.

Dr. Natasha Turner
Dr. Turner has a specialty in hormonal issues, weight management, and digestive concerns. She is Clinic Director and Founder of Clear Medicine Wellness Boutique and creator of The 8 Week Wellness Bootcamp and the Clear Medicine Lifestyle System, a wellness program that involves integrated care and guidance from an ND, MD and fitness expert. Both programs are based on her upcoming book, The Hormone Diet, which was released by Random House in April 2009.

Peter Twist, M.Sc.
Twist has coached in the NHL for 11 years and is currently a consultant for several NHL players and agents. An exercise physiologist with an MSc and specialization in Coaching Science, Twist has published over 200 papers, authored four books and 11 DVDs on athlete development and lectures to thousands of trainers and coaches internationally. Recognized as a leader in his industry, Twist was honoured with the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s 1998 President’s Award and Can-Fit-Pro 2003 Specialty Presenter of the Year Award. Twist has trained over 700 professional athletes. He is the President and CEO of Twist Conditioning Inc. providing education and certifications in sports conditioning.

With over 20 years of fitness experience, Helen is a respected international presenter, and owner of Heavens Fitness Club and Fountain Park Health Club in Calgary. As an instructor trainer, writer, video producer, and elite athlete as a past World Champion synchronized swimmer, she has won numerous awards. Helen is also a master trainer for the Nautilus Health and Fitness Group, BOSU, BodyBar, and fitness columnist for numerous magazines and newspapers.

Kelly Vernelli, B.Sc. (Kinesiology)
Kelly, a leader in the GoodLife Fitness personal training department, has pioneered education initiatives across Canada, having launched a level advancement program for personal trainers. She is also credited with designing a comprehensive fitness manager training program and fostering partnerships with continuing education providers across North America. Kelly accomplished this while leading regions in several provinces to record successes. She has enabled thousands of personal trainers to translate their passion for knowledge and people into fulfilling careers.

Ruth Vesterback, M. Ed., B. Sc (Human Kinetics)
Ruth is a former Reebok Master Trainer, national and international presenter with over 23 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. She is the Technical Advisor and Creative Co-Director with Inspired Energy Inc. Ruth works full time at Georgian College as faculty for the paramedic and fire programs and coordinates the fitness department and provides continuing education credits for industry professionals.

Laura Warf, B.Ed. McGill (Fitness), Can-Fit-Pro FIS, MBS
Laura Warf is the founder and president of Inspire-Action holistic health and fitness solutions offering services in mind-body coaching, personalized fitness training, and yoga instruction. Laura’s positive energy and strength as an educator has made her popular as an international presenter and as a leader in mind-body conditioning. Carol Ann Weerdenburg, M.Sc (Biol) University of Waterloo, CALA, Can-Fit-Pro, YMCA-YWCA
Carol is the Director of Fitness at the Ottawa Athletic Club, a multi-sport training centre. She is also a CALA Master Trainer and professor at Algonquin College in the Faculty of Part-Time Studies. Carol has presented seminars and workshops across Canada, the US and Germany.

Kenneth Weichert
Ken (a.k.a. “SGT Ken”) is a six-time Soldier of the Year, Master Fitness Trainer, and veteran of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm. Ken and his wife, Stephanie, a certified personal trainer, founded START Fitness®, which delivers military-style workouts to soldiers and civilians. They have led thousands of soldiers to better health through Operation Fit to Fight, a fitness instructor training program to prepare soldiers for basic combat training (boot camp), deployments, leadership schools, and post-deployment reintegration.

She is the Senior Divisional Manager for Personal Training at GoodLife Fitness clubs where she has designed and implemented industry-leading personal training systems and processes for sales management, scheduling, customer service, client accountability, recruitment and associate development. She has consistently set personal training performance records with her keen understanding of how to harness people’s potential and drive performance.

Chuck Wolf
Chuck has been teaching workshops, presenting internationally at conferences, running seminars with fitness professionals through to elite athletes of many different sports. As one of the industries top educators, Chuck brings a whole new approach to how we look and train the body. Chuck has presented at many national and international conferences and written numerous articles and produced many educational videos in the areas of human motion, sports science, and human performance.

Alwyn Wong
Dr. Alwyn Wong has been in the fitness and health industry for over ten years. Using an integrated treatment approach, he uses a combination of Active Release Techniques (ART), medical acupuncture, and chiropractic treatments to treat his patients, including NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, PGA, Olympic, and IFBB athletes. He has spent the last few years gaining international experience, not only treating athletes, but also teaching personal trainers and other fitness professionals.

Carole Woodstock
Carole is an international presenter with nearly two decades in the fitness industry. Driven by a passion for hip-hop and community outreach, Carole was first connected as National Director of Culture Shock Canada. Formerly the host of the CARDIO HIP-HOP television show, Carole is currently a Regional Group Exercise Manager for the GoodLife Fitness Clubs and Ottawa’s Lululemon Ambassador. Carole, with a passion for triathlon, is known for her contagious energy and unique teaching style.

Violet Zaki
Violet is a member of the adidas Team of Global Trainers. Violet has studied martial arts for over 10 years and is recognized nationally and internationally as a competitive contact fighter. She has a black belt in Seido Karate. She prides herself on taking inspiration from a variety of sports and instructors. Violet was born in Australia and currently lives in New York.
