January Move of the Month

Happy New Year, and all the best to you and your families in 2012! I hope that 2011 was a successful and prosperous year for everyone!

A few articles back I introduced the ViPR, the ONLY tool on the market to date which combines your traditional strength training with movement! If you haven’t seen it in action, visit www.viprfit.com or try YouTube! To date, there are just over 20,000 sold worldwide and I anticipate this number to pass 100,000 not too long in the near future! If you’re interested in becoming certified with ViPR or having a club demo done to show its versatility, please contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. This brings me to our “Move of the Month”. We call this one “Anterior step with an upper cut! Have fun!!

EXECUTION: Take hold of the ViPR in a neutral

grip. Take a step forward with the right foot. As you begin to flex at the ankle, knee and hip start to drive the ViPR from the left side of the body up and across the right side until its parallel to the ground and your knees and hips are about 90 degrees. (See attached photos)

TRAINING COMPONENTS: Unlike traditional strength training exercises, ViPR is best performed in circuits! I use 4 exercises, 30 seconds each with a 30 second rest in between sets. I generally will do 4 sets.

PROGRESSION/ REGRESSION: In order to regress the exercise try using a lighter ViPR or decrease ROM. In order to progress the exercise, try increasing the speed of the movement or add locomotion.
